18ct Yellow Gold Sandcast Engagement Ring with Heirloom White Diamond & Eight Bead Set Vintage Diamonds

Our lovely customer wished to reimagine a sentimental family heirloom diamond ring - giving this stunning 5.4mm white diamond a new lease of life as the central stone in an engagement ring, while also reshaping the beautifully rich 18ct yellow gold. For a detailed outline of the process and possibilities of reworking your own heirloom materials, please see our journal post - Remodel Your Heirloom Gold.

They initially felt drawn towards our Porthminster - Sandcast 0.35ct Diamond Ring, particularly enjoying the four flush set diamonds framing the claw set diamond. They had a strong affinity towards the flat profile of our Fistral - Sandcast Solitaire 0.35ct Diamond Ring, also preferring how the tapered band draws the eye towards the diamond, sitting in a bespoke raised claw setting. Lifting the claw setting away from the body of the ring allows light to flood the exceptionally sparkly diamond from all angles.

We combined elements from both designs to truly realise our customer's vision for their engagement ring, which we cast in sand from a personally meaningful location, imparting the inimitable texture. We love the choice to taper the size of the flush set diamonds with the band, meaning the ring feels sparkly but not overwhelming to wear. The ring was given an antique polish finish, with the high shine enhancing the gorgeous divots of sandcast texture. Our journal post, Comparing Precious Metals, provides clear examples of the differences in colours and carats of gold that we work with, alongside the finishes we offer.
