Old European Cut Diamond Engagement Ring in Stacked 18ct White & Yellow Gold
This stunning and radiant 0.68ct Old European Cut diamond was the star of this engagement ring commission. Our lovely customer felt inspired by our previously commissioned Sandcast 18ct Yellow Gold Ring with Old Cut Diamond in Open Gallery Bezel, feeling particularly drawn towards how the open gallery bezel setting floods the diamond with light, yet sits at a low enough profile to be worn comfortably and safely on a daily basis.
Our customer had a definite vision for their commission - imagining one chunky ring symmetrically inlaid with sparkly bead set diamonds, made up from three separate bands. They loved the idea of a subtle texture across the two steely 18ct white gold bands, both 3mm in width each. Casting the rings in a beach sand not only imparts the organically dappled texture but also captures tiny grains within the precious metal, meaning a part of a meaningful place can always be carried with you, which is a lovely way to imbue your rings with almost secret extra sentiment. Our collection contains over 500 sands from beaches, riverbeds, deserts and lakes, all of which you can explore on our Sand Map.
The 18ct yellow gold 2mm band was not sandcast, with our customer preferring an entirely matte finish for the slimmer, more delicate band housing the central diamond. The buttery smooth 18ct yellow gold beautifully compliments the texture of the pewter hued flanking rings. For detailed information and examples regarding the colours and carats of precious metal that we work with, see our journal post Comparing Precious Metals. We love the precise spacing of the twinkly bead set diamonds across the three rings, with each band feeling individual yet all three feeling cohesive and very dazzling together.
We compiled a journal post, How to Design Your Vintage Diamond Ring, containing several points to consider when building a ring around a beautifully unique vintage diamond. Our previously commissioned Engagement Rings also contains a multitude of inspiration, sparkly or otherwise!
