Sandcast Kos Pendant Ring in 18ct Gold with Rainbow Sapphires

This pendant was one of a kind, from the Off the Bench Peg archives, a space in which our jewellers are given total freedom creatively, using reclaimed materials to craft unique artisanal pieces.

Made by Jamila, this piece can be worn as a pendant or as a ring. It was very much inspired by the idea of making a versatile two in one piece of jewellery that felt just as special however it was worn.

After previously designing Kos pendants in sandcast silver, this time Jamila wanted to infuse this piece with some colour. She cast recycled 18ct yellow gold in St Ives beach sand, as a nod to Barbara Hepworth, and set a scatter of ethically sourced rainbow coloured sapphires and rubies in varying sizes.

The name 'Kos' was suggested by one of our lovely followers and is Norwegian for mindfulness and comfort. It felt a fitting choice as the shape and feel of the pendant is reminiscent of skimming stones.
